Work was focused on two recent updates to Employment Law in Alberta from the changes in Bill 2 “An Act to Make Alberta Open for Business” and the adjustments to the Employment Standards Regulation.
Family was focused on what the impact of Bill 28 “Family Statutes Amendment Act”. Arthur provided an overview of what an Adult Interdependent Partner (AIP) which is popularly know as a “common law” relationship.
Arthur wanted the accountants in attendance to understand how to approach the conversations about the above points with their clients. From our perspective both work and family form the core of a clients identity. We suggest approaching the discussion as being about contingent liabilities ensuring your client is aware of the risks they face in both work and family.
